Dear Alumni and Friends of Bhaktivedanta College,
Please accept my warm greetings and respectful pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I want to take the opportunity of Christmas and the 2012 New Year season to wish you all success in your life projects. May Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha bless you with good health, prosperity, rewarding relationships, and spiritual fulfillment.
I would also like to update you on the latest developments at Bhaktivedanta College. By Krishna’s grace and by the hard work of many committed persons, this is the tenth year Bhaktivedanta College is operating.
This year we have transferred our partnership from the University of Wales Lampeter to the University of Chester, which is also a highly reputable educational institution in the U.K. Our Theology and Religious Studies BA programme is continuing in full swing with more than twenty students on campus. In addition, we are in the process of validating a new BA degree in Educational Studies, Theology, and Religion, which will transform students into qualified teachers. This new programme, led by Rasamandala Prabhu, is scheduled to start in September 2012. For more details, please see the present link at ISKCON News: news.iskcon.com/node/4052
Another exciting development is that Dinadayal Prabhu has been appointed as Director of Online and Distance Learning at Bhaktivedanta College. A Bhakti-shastri online course has been very well-received by the sixty students who have participated since its beginning in January 2011. For more information on this programme, you can visit: bhakti-sastri.com. Many other on-line programs are being developed. A Certificate in Bhakti-Yoga Studies, for example, is scheduled to be launched in February 2012. In addition, we intend to introduce Theology and Religious Studies modules, and some modules on Business Administration and the ethics of Bhagavad Gita.
It is also stimulating that the College is working on establishing collaborative relationships and partnerships with other institutes and ISKCON communities, such as the I-Foundation family of schools (Krishna Avanti) in the UK, the Mayapura International School, as well as ISKCON communities in the UK, Middle East, and India, to quote some examples. The purpose of these partnerships is to directly serve the needs of these projects while simultaneously finding placements for College graduates. Such partnerships will naturally increase the number of new students and enhance the relevance of the College to the worldwide ISKCON community and society at large.
Another exciting project we are working on is the initial planning for a second College building to be built in cooperation with the Radhadesh temple and the Radhadesh Museum of Sacred Art (MOSA). As the present facilities are already tight, and we foresee an increase in the number of students enrolling in the new educational programs, this building will serve the students’ residential needs. We will keep you informed as the project unfolds.
Taking advantage of Christmas and New Year as an ideal period to request and express generosity, I am listing below the new College projects to request you to help according to your capacity and inspiration. Perhaps you would also like to inspire others to contribute. The College is still young and is much in need of whatever support you can offer.
