Student Life

Radhadesh, set in a hilly, forested area of Belgium, provides an ideal environment for study. The devotee community is far from bustling roads. Walking is easy to do. Even when it rains, the atmosphere is pleasant.

College students eat meals with the community members, who number more than fifty. They dine either in a new hall, at low tables, in the winter, or in a large tent, on tables and chairs (or on the lawn) in the summer.

The Deities preside from elaborate marble altars and create a sublime atmosphere. The temple floor is also marble and is heated in the winter. The men and women alternate weekly in using the temple room to chant japa. Both men and women give classes, lead kirtanas, and offer aratis.

The students and local devotees do home programs and harinamas in nearby cities monthly. The College students have weekly meetings (sangas). They perform plays together with Radhadesh devotees at major festivals. Some students help cook breakfasts.

Overall, the mood is one of serious studying, not socializing. The Student Guidelines offer more details.

The College students have an internal e-mail conference, called BC Students, running on PAMHO (an ISKCON-related service), and they also can join the Radhadesh Village Forum.

The College secretary, Mangala Candrika Devi Dasi, assists students from the College office. When students' parents visit the College, they can enjoy pizza and ice-cream in the restaurant and visit local tourist attractions like caves, gardens, and historical and cultural buildings. Radhadesh holds several festivals and conventions that attract the congregation from the Netherlands or a wider ISKCON audience.

Ryanair serves a nearby airport with low-cost European flights.
